Kittens, adult cats, senior cats and super-senior cats all have different dietary requirements. During growth as a kitten, they need different balances of nutrients to ensure healthy growth.

Interacting with your cat through play is great for many reasons. Your cat has exercise, you both enjoy interacting with each other and you strengthen the bond between owner and pet.

Cats do love to stretch out and bask in the sun. However, she may enjoy it so much that she stays out long enough to risk getting a sunburn – especially if she has a light-coloured coat, or a pink nose or pink skin. 

As a cat parent, you may be wondering if you’re feeding your cat the right amount of food – is it too much or too little?

Wild cats use their sense of smell and taste to check rotten food, and are cautious about unfamiliar things. While your kitten may share these instincts, her natural curiosity is sometimes bound to get her in trouble.

Infectious diseases such as Feline Infectious Enteritis (panleucopenia), Feline Calicivirus (FCV) and Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis (FVR) have been a significant cause of illness in cats. Once your kitten has had all her shots, you'll know that she will have the best possible protection. Remember, kittens should not be permitted to come into contact with stray cats until they have completed their course of vaccinations.

What your kitten learns during her first few months will influence the rest of her life. It’s important that she gets as much experience as possible in order to be more open and trusting as an adult.

As a rule, cats are poor travellers. They find the motion disturbing and this is aggravated by close confinement in a carrier box or basket. Before you travel with your furry little friend, make sure you keep these things in mind...

It hardly matters what type of environment your cat prefers. What matters is that you ensure she’s comfortable in her own skin, by understanding her natural instincts. Do keep your kitten indoors until she’s completely vaccinated.
